DAS are dedicated to providing affordable professional training for artists in the field of new media. DAS endeavours to make the classes as accessible and productive as possible, keeping the class sizes small (5 Participants) and the prices affordable. Each participant will have their own workstation and will have an opportunity to discuss any specific areas of interest they may have during the course.
The DAS workshop programme is part funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the National Lottery.
Introduction to Flash 8: Ciarán Maher Aimed at new users, this Flash course teaches the fundamental production skills required to create exciting and dynamic graphics, animation and multimedia projects. Over 2 days participants will focus on the tools that enable creation of vector and animation graphics as well as interactivity for online distribution. The workshop is designed to give basic information in the following areas: illustrating, adding and editing text, creating and editing symbols, understanding layers, creating buttons and tweened animations. Digital Video Editing for Beginners: Seamus Harahan This workshop will be an introduction to Digital Video editing using Final Cut pro. The 3 day course will introduce particants to the FCP interface, timeline layout, logging and capturing, tools, saving, filters, transitions, audio editing, adding titles & preparing footage for export. Tues 29th to Thursday 31st May, 12pm-3pm

Intermediate Web Design with Macromedia DreamWeaver & Flash: Ciarán Maher Aimed at those with who have completed the beginners course or have basic web design skills; this course will push participants to the next level of web design. This course will place an emphasis on how creating more sophisticated web pages using DreamWeaver & Flash and practical steps to getting your site on line. Participants with their own new / existing sites are encouraged to bring their FTP details.

Beginners Introduction to Graphic Design: Wendy Johnston (Illustrator & Photoshop; for Production of Fliers, Posters, Small Brochures/Catalogues etc.)
This beginner’s course covers the basics of Adobe’s leading application for vector artwork, used in the creation of scalable resolution independent artwork and graphics. During this two-part class participants will look at the theory behind vector graphics, the application’s user interface, creation of imagery using vector artwork and Illustrators use for typography and document layout.
A basic introduction to Photoshop for incorporating images into layouts is included. Wed 6th & Thurs 7th June, 5.30pm-8.30pm

Digital Drawing: Duncan Ross This two-day workshop will appeal to illustrators, comic-strip illustrators and artists using drawing that wish to explore the possibilities of digital image-manipulation software. Concentrating on Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, the sessions will cover practical introductions to the packages, an investigation of the creative possibilities in using computers alongside other methods of drawing, and preparing artwork for both electronic and print publishing.
Participants are invited to bring along their own drawings, images and ideas to explore how knowledge of image manipulation software can be used to enhance their individual practice. Wed 20th & Thurs 21st June, 12pm-3pm
